Surgeons & Oncologists - Cut from my same cloth! Relief!

February 11, 2014

People keep telling me I should start a blog.... I'm just not a blogger. I'm a Facebooker. Blogging gives me anxiety because I feel like I need to keep up with it. Facebooking just seems so much easier and less stressful. So, until I catch up to the modern 21st century, I'll just keep on Facebooking!

We had some recent test results come back to say that this stupid cancer is a little more aggressive than we had thought. SO... the rotten tatas have to stay intact for a while longer and I'll start chemo sooner than later. On Friday, they'll put me under, go in and check out my lymph nodes, do some work on them if needed (like biopsying and/or removing them) and place the port-a-cath into my chest (that's how I'll get chemo). Chemo starts Monday and my head turns into a very cold cue ball on the 15th day after. After chemo (about 4 1/2 months), I'll get the bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction all at once.

I love my surgeon and my oncologist! My surgeon asked me what ethnicity I am... I said, "Chinese..." She said, "Oh, I'd have never guessed Chinese.... maybe it's because you can pronounce your 'Rs' and 'Ls'?" She had me INSTANTLY after that one! Too funny - I love a girl that takes a funny little risk like that!

My oncologist tells me, after I told her I chose her because she's 'Mary' and her husband is 'Joseph', "Well, let me warn you... I'm NOT a virgin. But I AM Jewish!" Hey, 1 out of 2... I'm good with that!
